Wow One Preseason Home Game!
The Wizards have released their preseason schedule! As we already know, they will open up the preseason with a "home" game in Richmond against the Grizzlies. A few days later, Friday October 9th, the Mavericks will play at Verizon with a 7pm start time.
Matt Carroll vs Javaris Crittenton. That's what I'm talking about! Sounds like a good reason to drink on a Friday night in the DC.
The Wiz go on to play 6 more preseason games, all on the road. Preseason NBA...we got next!

Wizards Vs Grizzlies Preseason Game
The Wizards will be having training camp at the same old place in Richmond. However, this year instead of having an intra-squad scrimmage, the Wizards will play against some D-League team called the Memphis Grizzlies. Yeah I've never heard of them either.
The game will be Tuesday, October 6th at 7pm at the Siegal Center. I can't wait to drive 2 1/2 hours down traffic filled 95 on a Tuesday night to watch Tony Massenberg take it strong on Hamed Haddadi. You just got Hamed! (oh its not pronounced like the meat?)
Then there is the whole driving an hour 45 back thing. My government classified non-clunker will love that. That's $27 of gas money for the round trip. That's not a gas guzzler government?
See you there!

The 8 Man Rotation
Do you think Dominic McGuire has the potential to be the next Dennis Rodman? Do you think Javaris Crittenton just needs some more playing time to become a great point guard? Do you think JaVale McGee is going to be a Dwight Howard type guy this season?
Well I hate to break it to you, but you won't get the chance to find out. With the new 8 man rotation, young players that contributed last season will find themselves on the bench, picking up DNPs.
Below is a general idea of how I believe things will shake out next season.
CENTER:
Brendan Haywood Usually plays around 30 minutes per game. That leaves 18 minutes left at the center position. This will be played by Oberto & Blatche.
Odd Man Out: JaVale McGee. Unless there is foul trouble, Saunders will probably keep McGee on the bench. Its only his 2nd year, and is not ready to be a huge contributor yet anyway.
POWER FORWARD:
Antawn Jamison puts in close to 38 minutes at the PF position. This leaves about 10 minutes for Andray Blatche to fill in (or Mike Miller if going small).
Odd Man Out: Dominic McGuire. This guy was a hustler homie. He played great last year. Was a rebounding machine. But, this isn't the worst team in the NBA anymore.
SMALL FORWARD:
Caron Butler is another 38 minutes (at least) guy. The other 10 minutes will belong to Mike Miller.
SHOOTING GUARD:
Randy Foye & Mike Miller (& Gilbert) will play most of the minutes at this position.
Odd Men Out: Nick Young & DeShawn Stevenson. When I think about it, I feel like there could be minutes for NY as the 9th man, but Ill go with what Flip says.
POINT GUARD:
Punch in Gilbert being on the floor at least 38 minutes. The 10 minutes he is out, Foye will take his place.
Odd Men Out: Javaris Crittenton & Mike James. I'm not sure who gets the nod if the Wiz are in foul trouble, but during a normal game don't expect to see either of these guys on the court.
The 8 Man Rotation
1. Gilbert Arenas
2. Caron Butler
3. Antawn Jamison
4. Brendan Haywood
5. Mike Miller
6. Randy Foye
7. Andray Blatche
8. Fabricio Oberto
The only question I had was Oberto or Nick Young. I went with the big man because Andray is questionable, and the guards like Arenas are more likely to not want to come out of the game. I can foresee a scenario where Young gets 10 minutes at SG and Oberto is saved for foul trouble...Also go with NY if Gilbert decides to play less minutes...

Very Very Improbable Redskins & Wizards Conflict
Hahhahahhahahah....ahhahahahahahah
I can't stop laughing that I'm actually posting this...but...
The Wizards have a home game against the Hornets at 1pm on Sunday, December 10th. This just happens to be the first week of the NFL playoffs. Sooooooo. If the Skins get in (see laughter above) we have that conflict that could happen.
But then, the ultimate of all laughing matters...
2 Weeks later, Sunday, 1pm. Blake Griffin. Clippers @Wizards. Sooooooooo. If the Skins make it to the NFC Championship game (ctrl-c ctrl-v the laughter above several more times) That game will probably not start til around 3pm and is not a big deal. I'm just in a Redskins to the Super Bowl mood...
Redskins & Wizards Conflict
On Sunday, November 8th we have our classic Wizards home game conflicting with Redskins game. Luckily the Skins are away, so at least there isn't any ticket conflict.
Phoenix Suns @ Washington Wizards: 1pm
Washington Redskins @ Atlanta Falcons: 1pm
I hate when this happens. I may catch some of the action during the game at Green Turtle, have someone google update the scores, or maybe even skip the Wiz game. What are you gonna do.
Wizards Schedule
Today the NBA schedules were released, so check out what the Wizards are up against...(WHO CARES THE SEASON STARTS IN LIKE 20 MONTHS)
The Wizards start off the season on the first night (Tuesday, Oct 27th) against Dallas one of only 4 games that night. Getting the season started off right!
Then a few days later the Wiz start off at home on Halloween Night against the Nets. This is a Saturday night game in DC, which means you should check back here the next day, if I can even remember anything about the night, I imagine the story will be legendary.
While still recovering from the Frightmare on F Street (copyright), a few days later the Wiz play on in the city on the river of tears, aka Cleveland.
On November 18th (wednesday) Jabroni James and the Big Babysitter come to DC for another ESPN showdown, this one that will include Gilbert Arenas...(i think)
The following Tuesday Eddie Jordan comes back to DC to see the team that he could have coached if his best player didn't plan comebacks against doctors orders.
Then there are games and games and games (boring) until the Lakers come to town on January 26th (tuesday bah)
Then there are even more games (will this season ever end!) but why am I looking at February 2010. WHY! Its August 2009!
So enjoy reading this, the only Wizards news in like 3 months!
DeShawn Stevenson Stuff
In case you missed the Michael Lee articles from the other day, he wrote a big one in the Sunday paper, and one on the Insider, all about DeShawn Stevenson, who has been MIA this offseason.
Last season when Stevenson was working on his big 2nd place consecutive game streak (he never would have passed Tayshaun Prince) it came out in the media that Stevenson had told coach Tapscott that he would like to be removed from the starting lineup to help the team. At the time it sounded like a valiant move by a guy who realized he had lost his mojo.
It turns out that Tapscott actually benched Stevenson, and lied to the media in respect for Stevenson's hard work. Twist!
The article talks about how Stevenson was hurt all year and played through it because he didn't want to let the team down (according to him) So maybe this year, after all the training and all the healing, we will once again see Mr. Fitty instead of Mr. Two Fitty (his former weight)...
But more likely we will see Mr. Nikky, Mr. Randy, & Mr. Mikey...
